In 2001 I started this website to keep my friends and family up to date with my travels and adventures. Since then, my life has been one adventure after another. Today that adventure continues. I have been living abroad now for the more then 2 years; And during that time, I have seen my life transform time, and time again. So who is Jeff Timmerman you ask. Well … he is nothing more then a normal guy; A guy who is just trying to make the most out of each and every day. Often reinventing myself, and discovering who I truly am. It is my vow to never become a slave to life, but simply its master of my own destiny. What that destiny is, I don’t know… But I do have faith that if I give from my heart, and be compassionate unto others, I will have lived a good life. So enough of the philosophy stuff… I am sure your are just eager to hear about what makes me tick. Well, If I had to describe myself, I would have to break it down into four simple categories: Life, Love, Work & Fun. Life – is nothing more then a series of moments. Each moment is an opportunity to reveal the real you. A chance to better yourself on any front. It’s these moments that define who you are, and how people see you. But most of all, moments are the building blocks of happiness. Love– When it comes to love, all I can say is that I try to follow my heart. I try to ignore what my mind is telling me, and just go with my feelings. I think that love should be natural, and that a persons’ status, income, race, or religion should have nothing to do with love. Love, in its purest form is far more wonderful then all the money in the world. It’s far more precious then social status. It’s far more interesting then not loving at all. But most of all, Love is a fire that should not be smoldered. Work – Now this is something I truly believe in. Hell it’s where we spend most of our lives anyway. We might as well do something good with all the time that we have; if you know what I mean. So when it comes to work I will not be shy in saying … I like to have fun. Fun is the key ingredient to a happier, healthier work environment; and I don’t mean those once a year team building exercises that your company makes you attend. I mean feeling good about the work you do. Being able to be inspired by your peers. To know what it’s like to be bursting at the seams with creativity; and be in a position to explore those ideas. Knowing that you are secure in you job and that job security does not require you to safeguard your position. I don’t believe in office politics, and I simply will not play that game. Either you know what you are doing, or you don’t… And if you don’t, then don’t be too proud to ask for help; and if asked for help, then be nice and remember… Once upon a time you asked for help. There is no shame in asking for help. Accountability… everyone needs to be held accountable for their actions, no matter how high up in an organization they are. Leaders / Managers should always be held accountable for the work of their subordinates. Without their subordinates, managers simply would not have anyone to manager. Finally the rules should apply to everyone, regardless of race, religion, friendships, position, etc. No exceptions. “A true leader does not use his/her position for self advancement, but simply to trains others to be leaders. A true leader inspires his/her peers and subordinates. A true leader admits his/her short comings”. Jeff Timmerman Fun – Adventure, adventure adventure, that’s my idea of fun. Note: adventure can be so many different kinds of activities. Everything from trekking thru the remote Himalayas; To sipping a Starbucks mocha, while sitting between the stacks of a Barnes & Knoble bookstore. I love the outdoors and being and taking photographs of awe inspiring landscapes. I equally enjoy just sitting all afternoon at the local Starbucks, all the while watching as people come an go. I love rainy days, and taking mid afternoon naps. I occasionally enjoy slipping away from work in the mid afternoon to catch a movie. There is nothing like having an entire movie theater to yourself. I guess you could say that whether its above or below the water, I just like being in the outdoors.
